Chapter Ten · 10
California Living
The home continues beyond its walls.
“In Southern California, outdoor space is not an amenity. It is another room.”
Large glass openings connect the principal living spaces to the backyard, allowing the home to expand during gatherings and breathe during quiet mornings.
The outdoor areas were planned for flexibility: coffee before the day begins, children at play, weekend meals, evening conversation, and future layers of landscape and furniture that will make the space personal.
Concrete, turf, planting, drainage, irrigation, and access were coordinated as one system so the space could feel simple and effortless in daily use.
Builder's Design Note
Outdoor beauty depends on what cannot be seen: proper grading, drainage, irrigation, and durable transitions between surfaces.
