Chapter Two · 02
The Arrival
A sense of home begins before the front door opens.
“The approach was designed to slow the moment down—to create anticipation, warmth, and a quiet sense of arrival.”
The front of the residence was treated as an experience rather than a boundary. The modern horizontal gate, substantial columns, natural stone, layered landscaping, architectural lighting, house numbers, and mailbox were studied as one composition.
City requirements led to a thoughtful redesign of the front wall and planter relationship. Instead of treating that revision as a compromise, the design was improved: the wall was moved, the landscape gained depth, and the home received a more gracious transition from sidewalk to entry.
By day, the architecture feels crisp and balanced. At dusk, carefully positioned lighting reveals the texture of the stone, the geometry of the gate, and the warmth of the path home.
Builder's Design Note
The Eldorado Stone European Ledge in Linen was selected for warmth, texture, and a timeless contrast against the matte-black metalwork.
Suggested Photography
